Why Zunapro Storage Switzerland
Most Swiss warehouses only rent racks or have no EU↔CH customs know-how. We deliver warehouse + insurance + CCTV + FIFO/LIFO + e-dec/Passar customs + (if needed) Fulfillment switch — one dashboard, one invoice, one contact, in DE/FR/IT.
In Spreitenbach/Dietikon — Limmattal logistics zone, on A1/A3, 12 km to ZRH airport, 30 min to Lugano/Basel/Bern. A-class facility: high ceilings, sprinklers, VKF fire protection, backup generator, insured.
All racks and entry points monitored 24/7 by HD cameras. Motion sensors, panic button, 365-day archive. ISO 27001 data security — Swiss FADP-compliant data hosting (no EU transfer).
Covers fire, flood, theft and natural disasters. Higher coverage via Allianz Suisse, Zürich Insurance or AXA Schweiz with extra premium (0.3–0.5% per year).
Switzerland is NOT in the EU. We handle import/export customs, VAT declarations, origin statements (CH-EU FTA) and Passar declarations — from CHF 25/shipment. Galaxus, Digitec and Swiss SME importers rely on us.
SKU-level tracking on the ZunaPro panel including language variant. We apply Swiss-standard trilingual DE/FR/IT labelling for national products — Twint-payment QR compatible delivery notes.
Start with storage only and add pick & pack + shipping (Swiss Post, DPD, Planzer, Quickpac) when ready. Same SKU, same rack, zero transfer cost.
Who uses it
Swiss premium demand differs from EU mainland. Here are the typical profiles.
When your Galaxus/Digitec sales outgrow your own space, we take the overflow — same Swiss delivery times (1–2 days via Swiss Post / DPD Schweiz / Planzer).
After BAZG customs clearance (e-dec / Passar), distribution to Swiss dealers can take weeks. Temporary storage + piecemeal releases — gain time without owning a CH warehouse.
High-value cage with reinforced access, sealed boxes, 24/7 video at +CHF 14/pallet/month. Suitable for Swiss watches, micromechanics and luxury items.
Cold storage for hardware wallets, HSM modules, server backups for FINMA-regulated Swiss fintechs/iGaming operators. ISO 27001 + Swiss FADP-compliant data hosting.
+4°C licensed cosmetics, vitamins and supplements (non-pharma — no Swissmedic license). ISO-certified cold storage + temperature logger reports.
Swiss standard requires DE/FR/IT labels for national distribution products. We handle print, application, optional language-variant separation — ready for Coop, Migros, Manor.
Send these — we set up your Zürich warehouse within 24 hours.
Swiss VAT is 8.1% (as of 2024/26) — the lowest in the DACH region (DE 19%, AT 20%). The reduced rate of 2.6% applies to certain categories (food, books, medicine). Accommodation 3.8%. We invoice in CHF with ESTV-compliant VAT statement; EU customers receive EUR reference amounts. Swiss SMEs benefit from a lower tax burden than the EU mainland.
Yes. Our ZunaPro panel and all stock and image data are hosted in Swiss data centres (Zürich, Genève) — FADP-compliant (revised Swiss Data Protection Act 2023), no automatic EU transfer. Important for fintech/iGaming customers (FINMA-regulated): CID/CDR data classification and audit trail available. Data Processing Agreement (DPA) supplied with contract.
Switzerland is NOT in the EU, so every EU↔CH shipment needs a customs declaration. We handle BAZG customs via e-dec (export) / Passar (import, since 2024): tariff numbers, origin statement (CH-EU FTA → tariff preference), VAT capture, delivery note validation. From CHF 25/shipment for standard B2B imports. For e-commerce parcels < CHF 200 declared value the threshold applies.
We settle via SEPA/bank transfer in CHF or EUR — Twint is for your B2C customers on the storefront. Our pick & pack delivery notes are Twint-compatible (Swiss QR-Bill, ISO 20022-compliant reference number), so end-customers can pay via Twint, PostFinance or QR-Bill. We can print Twint QR codes on delivery notes.
For national distribution in Switzerland (Coop, Migros, Manor, Galaxus) the standard requires trilingual DE/FR/IT labelling on packaging. We offer: (1) label printing on site, (2) application per carton, (3) optional language-variant separation (DE for Deutschschweiz, FR for Romandie via Genève, IT for Ticino). Cost: CHF 0.15/label + CHF 0.30/carton application.
Yes. For FINMA-regulated fintechs and iGaming operators we provide: Swiss data hosting (FADP), high-value cage for HSM/cold-storage hardware wallets, ISO 27001-compliant access control, four-eye-principle audit trail, optional segregated storage. We are not a FINMA institution ourselves, but cover all physical compliance requirements the regulator places on storage.
Our A-class main warehouse is in Zürich Spreitenbach/Dietikon (Limmattal logistics zone, on A1/A3, 12 km to ZRH), with a secondary site in Genève for Romandie. Country-wide shipping via Swiss Post / Die Post, DPD Schweiz, DHL Schweiz, Planzer, Quickpac, Post CH: 1 day Deutschschweiz, 1–2 days Romandie/Ticino. EU↔CH shipments via DPD/DHL with integrated customs clearance.
Yes. Receiving → QC → labelling (DE/FR/IT) → optional customs → outbound all on the same day with cutoff 14:00 CET. In that case no storage fee — only handling (CHF 6/pallet, CHF 0.80/carton) plus customs if any. Ideal for Galaxus flash sales, Swiss premium drops or EU-CH container consolidation.
Swiss warehousing benefits from a peculiar advantage of non-EU status: Zollfreilager (bonded warehouses) and Freeport facilities mean goods can sit physically on Swiss soil while remaining outside the customs territory — tax accrues only at the moment of import into the local market. The combination of Zürich Freilager + Geneva Freeport + Lugano Freilager is the global standard for luxury (watches, art, jewellery). This guide covers all warehouse archetypes, palette-rate pricing in CHF and alpine rail+truck multi-modal flows.
| Type | Customs Status | Typical Goods | Palette/Month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zollfreilager / Freeport | Bonded (ZFL) | Luxury, transit | CHF 28-58 |
| OZL (Open Bonded) | Individual declaration | Broad stock | CHF 22-44 |
| Climate-Controlled (GxP) | Fully cleared | Pharma, cosmetics | CHF 38-72 |
| Cold Chain (2-8°C) | Fully cleared | Biologics, vaccines | CHF 65-110 |
| Classic (ambient) | Fully cleared | General e-commerce | CHF 16-32 |
Zollfreilager facilities sit on Swiss soil but outside the customs territory. Goods imported from Türkiye trigger no customs declaration on arrival; only when they exit for sale into the Swiss market is import declared and MWST levied. If re-exported to the EU, no Swiss tax arises at all. Benefits: cash-flow optimisation (customs payment deferred until sale), cross-docking (Switzerland as transit point) and value storage for watches, art and jewellery.
Leading ZFL operators: Geneva Free Ports & Warehouses Ltd (La Praille + Cointrin), Embraport (Embrach, north of Zürich), Freilager Zürich (Albisrieden), FreilagerSwiss Lugano. The Geneva Free Port holds a significant fraction of the world's stored art assets.
The Basel-Pratteln + Schweizerhalle corridor — anchored by Roche and Novartis — is Europe's densest GxP warehouse cluster. Temperature bands: 15-25°C controlled room temperature, 2-8°C cold chain, -20°C deep freeze. Warehouses are inspected by Swissmedic and hold GMP + GDP certification. Cosmetic products require Swiss-equivalent CPNP notifications.
Storage carries unusual weight in Swiss luxury: Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet and Vacheron Constantin keep inventory at the Geneva Free Port; museum off-site collections are stored there too. Practical use for international sellers: hold high-value items (vintage watches, collectibles, premium accessories) in ZFL and only clear them at sale before shipping to Galaxus or Ricardo — this smooths cash flow significantly.
Alpine topography makes rail a more prominent share of Swiss freight than in other European markets. SBB Cargo (the federal rail freight operator) and Hupac (intermodal) run Türkiye–CH lanes via the Gotthard tunnel. A 40-ft container moves from Mersin to the Basel-Kleinhüningen Rhine port in 14-18 days and reaches any CH hub within 2-4 hours from there. Road (TIR) via Eastern Europe is 8-12 days but 20-30% more expensive.
| Service | Unit | CHF Price |
|---|---|---|
| Euro-pallet storage (ambient) | Pallet/month | 16-32 |
| Euro-pallet storage (climate) | Pallet/month | 38-72 |
| Inbound handling | Pallet | 22-44 |
| Pick & pack per order | Order | 3.50-6.80 |
| Additional line item | Unit | 0.45-0.90 |
| Returns processing | Parcel | 4.50-7.20 |
3PL operations process customer data (recipient address, phone, email). Under revDSG the 3PL operator acts as Auftragsbearbeiter (processor); a DPA (Auftragsbearbeitungsvertrag) is mandatory. EDÖB audits focus on: where WMS data is accessed from, log retention period, and SCC plus additional safeguards for any third-country transfer.
Swiss warehouse insurance runs at two layers: operator cover (the 3PL's bailee liability) and cargo insurance on goods value, typically with Allianz Schweiz, Zurich Insurance, Helvetia, AXA Schweiz or La Mobilière. High-value items (watches, jewellery) move to Lloyd's of London or Munich Re Specie policies. Artwork stored at the Geneva Free Port requires dedicated artwork-specific covers. Annual premium rates typically run 0.08-0.45% of insured value.
Swiss consumers are notably sustainability-conscious — Galaxus and Migros require CO₂ reporting from suppliers. SBB Cargo rail emits roughly 70% less CO₂ than equivalent road haulage, an advantage that registers on the Mersin-Basel lane in particular. Quickpac runs an electric fleet, and Die Post targets full carbon-neutral operations by 2030. FSC-certified packaging and reusable Migros/Coop box programmes are standard expectations.
The Zunapro Swiss storage package: choice between Zollfreilager (Embrach, Geneva) and classic warehousing (Glattbrugg, Pratteln), per-pallet pricing, WMS integration (Galaxus + Digitec + Brack + Shopify/Magento), GxP certification through the Schweizerhalle hub on request, flexible Inco-terms DDP or DAP, with integrated MyPost24 + Die Post API + DHL Schweiz. Typical onboarding 4-8 weeks, minimum 12-month commitment.
