How we work
No months-long agile talk. Fixed price, fixed schedule, weekly demos. No surprise invoices or disappearing PMs.
We discuss your processes (60-90 min, at our Amsterdam office or via Teams). Current software, pain points and goals are mapped. Within 3 business days you get a fixed-price quote, module by module, with a plan. No obligation.
Wireframes + clickable prototype in Figma. We walk through the screens together and you sign off. Data model, integration map, API spec and GDPR Data Processing Agreement (DPA) documented.
Frontend + backend + mobile in parallel. Cursor + Claude/GPT-4 deliver 40% faster code. Weekly live demos + screencasts. GitHub access open — you see the code. Hosting on Leaseweb or TransIP (Dutch data centers, GDPR-compliant).
Exact Online/AFAS/Twinfield, Peppol e-invoice, Bol.com/Amazon NL APIs, Mollie/iDEAL/Klarna, PostNL/DHL — all integrated. UAT testing with your team. Bug list closed within 48 hours.
2-3 live trainings for your team (recorded, NL/EN). Server deployment, SSL, backups, monitoring. Soft launch — 1 week with pilot users. Then full handover, optionally including KvK-compliant source code escrow.

Custom quote
No fixed price lists. We listen to your needs, scope the modules and deliver a fixed-price + fixed-schedule quote within 3 business days. The call is free and obligation-free. Pricing in Euro (EUR) excl. 21% BTW.
Whatever the scope, the following is standard — no extra cost.
Bring this — in 60 minutes we deliver an accurate quote.
We work with fixed price + fixed schedule. The delivery date is in the contract; 3% penalty per week of delay (max 20%). This is possible because we lock scope upfront, prevent scope creep and work with AI-assisted code. 23 of our last 24 projects shipped on time or early (references on the call). KvK-registered and BTW-liable in the Netherlands.
**The code is 100% yours.** GitHub repo transferred free of charge. You can continue with any other software company or hire developers yourself. Optional: source code escrow with a Dutch notary. Vendor lock-in is not our model — we keep clients through quality, not contracts.
Default hosting on Leaseweb (Amsterdam AMS-01) or TransIP (Dronten). Data stays inside NL/EU. GDPR-compliant Data Processing Agreement (DPA) with every contract. Optional: pentest by external auditor, ISO 27001 path, NEN 7510 for healthcare. No US cloud services without your explicit consent (Schrems II compliance).
On the contrary. Our senior with Cursor + Claude/GPT-4 delivers ~40% faster and with 25% fewer bugs than a solo dev (own measurement). AI writes code, but architecture, code review and tests run through our 12-year team. Result: same quality, faster and cheaper. Training data never goes to OpenAI — we use Azure OpenAI EU region or self-hosted models.
Not overblown — call our references. When manual Excel/email/phone processes move to a portal, one portal replaces 3-4 backoffice staff on average. It's not about firing — you move these people into higher-value roles like sales or customer experience. In today's tight NL labor market this is pure win.
Logistics, e-commerce, healthcare, education, construction, hospitality, real estate, jewelry, B2B textile, retail, automotive, agri-food — live projects everywhere. If your sector isn't listed, we connect you on the call with 1-2 comparable clients in the Netherlands.
**Marketplaces:** Bol.com (incl. BCT), Amazon NL/DE/FR/IT/ES, Coolblue, Marktplaats, Wehkamp, Blokker, Albert Heijn, bolt.eu, Allegro, Zalando, About You, eBay. **ERP/Accounting:** Exact Online, AFAS Profit, Twinfield, Moneybird, Yuki, MUIS, e-Boekhouden, Visma.net, SAP Business One. **e-invoicing:** Peppol network (UBL 2.1), SimplerInvoicing. **Payments:** Mollie, Stripe NL, Adyen, Buckaroo, Pay., iDEAL, Klarna, Tikkie, AfterPay. **Shipping:** PostNL, DHL Parcel, DPD NL, GLS NL, UPS, Trunkrs, Budbee, ViaTim. If the system has a REST/SOAP API, we integrate it.
No — the code is yours and you run it. During the 12-month free warranty all bugs are on us. After: (1) continue with your own dev, (2) monthly contract with us (packages: 8h/month €720 — 40h/month €3,200), (3) hourly support (€120/h). All prices excl. 21% BTW. No obligation.
The Dutch SME economy runs on a small set of homegrown SaaS platforms — Exact Online, Twinfield, AFAS, MoneyBird and Snelstart — that occupy the "general ledger" layer of almost every business. Any custom software project addressing a Dutch audience must accept this reality and integrate, not replace. This guide explores the technical building blocks every successful B2B software vendor needs in the Netherlands: accounting integrations, Peppol e-invoicing, PSD2 Open Banking, eHerkenning and AVG-compliant architecture.
Roughly 75% of Dutch SMEs run their books in Exact Online, Twinfield, AFAS, MoneyBird or Snelstart. A custom CRM, order-management or service-desk product will not survive procurement conversations unless it speaks to at least one of these systems. The customer does not migrate away from their financial source of truth; you connect into their ecosystem.
| System | NL Share | API | Peppol |
|---|---|---|---|
| Exact Online | ~35% | REST + OAuth2 | Built-in |
| Twinfield | ~15% | SOAP + REST | Built-in |
| AFAS | ~12% | REST (Profit) | Add-on |
| MoneyBird | ~8% | REST + OAuth2 | Built-in |
| Snelstart | ~5% | REST | Built-in |
Peppol (Pan-European Public Procurement OnLine) is the standardised EU electronic invoice network. The Dutch central government already mandates Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 UBL 2.1 XML invoices from its suppliers; municipalities and private B2B are following fast. Custom software can plug into Peppol via an Access Point such as Storecove (Dutch), Tradeshift, Pagero or via direct KvK certification.
In practice your ERP or CRM emits UBL 2.1 XML, addresses the recipient by Peppol ID (e.g. 0106:12345678 for KvK or 9944:NL000099998B57 for BTW-id) and POSTs it to the Access Point. Delivery confirmations land asynchronously via webhook. The architecture pattern is identical to any modern message-bus integration.
EU PSD2 mandates that ING, ABN AMRO, Rabobank, SNS, Bunq, Knab and Triodos expose AISP (Account Information) and PISP (Payment Initiation) APIs. Custom B2B software can use these to automate bank reconciliation, expense tracking and instant payment initiation — features that displace manual CSV imports for ~70% of Dutch SMEs. A DNB (De Nederlandsche Bank) licence or an EU-wide AISP/PISP passport is mandatory for production access.
eHerkenning is the corporate login that Dutch companies use to access government portals: Belastingdienst, KvK, RVO, UWV and so on. If your SaaS product needs to file VAT returns, query KvK or pull payroll subsidies on a client's behalf, integration with an eHerkenning Broker is mandatory. For individuals, DigiD is the citizen-facing equivalent used for health, municipal and tax services. Both run on SAML 2.0.
The Dutch tech market is biased toward modern stacks: TypeScript, Node.js/NestJS, Python/FastAPI, React/Next.js, Vue/Nuxt. On the cloud side, AWS Frankfurt, Azure West Europe and Google Cloud Europe-West-4 (Eemshaven, Netherlands) are the dominant choices for EU data residency. A senior full-stack engineer in the Netherlands runs €90,000–€130,000/year gross — a useful reference for cross-border outsourcing budgets.
Your custom software must keep Dutch customer data inside the EU. Implement data minimisation, encryption at rest and in transit, an admin UI for the data-subject rights (access, deletion, portability) and a signed Data Processing Agreement (DPA). SOC 2 Type II or ISO 27001 dramatically shortens enterprise procurement cycles. The AP (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) is active and unforgiving — bake compliance into the design, not the audit.
Dutch engineering culture takes test coverage seriously. Unit tests (Jest, Vitest, Pytest), integration tests (Cypress, Playwright) and contract tests (Pact) are widely expected. CI/CD typically runs on GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or Azure DevOps, deploying to AWS Frankfurt or GCP Eemshaven on Kubernetes (EKS, GKE) or to edge platforms like Vercel and Netlify. A subtle but important point: Dutch teams hold "definition of done" sacred — a feature is not complete until tests, documentation and onboarding instructions are in place.
Dutch B2B SaaS prospects expect transparent pricing. A "Contact Sales" wall loses mid-market deals. Typical layout: monthly tiers (€29/€99/€249), usage-based meters and 10-15% annual prepay discount. Contract language is preferably Dutch, currency EUR, invoice format UBL 2.1 (Peppol). Algemene Voorwaarden (general terms) should follow Dutch law and reference KvK number, applicable Rechtbank (court) and the procedure for arbitration via SGOA or NAI. Modular tiers, free trials and annual prepay incentives align with how Dutch SMEs evaluate software. A two-hour response window on demo requests is the unofficial industry standard; missing it loses roughly 60% of leads. Plan a HubSpot or Pipedrive flow accordingly.
Modern Dutch B2B projects favour microservices, event-driven communication and an API-first mindset. Kafka, RabbitMQ and AWS EventBridge are the most common message buses. Peppol Access Point inbound flows, ING/ABN AMRO PSD2 webhooks and Exact Online OAuth callbacks all orchestrate through the event layer. Quoting an event log plus idempotency-key guarantee up-front signals operational maturity to enterprise buyers.
Production systems are typically observed with Datadog, New Relic or self-hosted Grafana + Prometheus. Dutch contracts spell out SLAs: 99.9% uptime, <500ms p95 latency, RPO <1h, RTO <4h. Error-budget thinking and SRE practices are increasingly expected in mid-to-enterprise deals. Sentry and LogRocket catch frontend exceptions, Datadog APM traces the backend — together they form the standard observability triad among Dutch tech teams.
When non-EU engineering teams work with Dutch clients, certain norms matter: time-zone alignment (CET ± 1h is workable for a daily standup), transparent reporting (weekly demo, open Jira board), low-ceremony communication (short Slack pings beat formal e-mails) and conservative estimates (Dutch PMs distrust inflated forecasts). Contracts prefer Dutch as legal language, but technical artefacts (architecture, runbooks, API docs) remain in English. Quarterly business reviews and a visible engineering manager are typical accountability rituals.
For the Dutch SME market, a medium-complexity custom build (Exact Online + Mollie + Peppol, user management, dashboard, mobile web) typically runs 14-22 weeks at €55,000-€120,000. Enterprise scope (ING/ABN PSD2 plus DigiD plus several accounting systems) shifts into the 9-18-month and €250,000-€800,000 band. Non-EU outsourcing can bring 40-55% cost reduction, but pairing the engineering team with a Dutch-resident product owner makes or breaks delivery quality.
Software that succeeds in the Netherlands is software that respects the Dutch tech and regulatory stack — Exact Online, Twinfield, AFAS for accounting, Peppol for invoicing, PSD2 for banking, eHerkenning and DigiD for identity, AVG for data. Foreign-built SaaS products that ignore this list face long procurement cycles or quiet rejection. Those that embrace it typically scale to the broader Benelux within 18-24 months. The single most powerful first step is to ship a clean Peppol e-invoice and an Exact Online connector on day one — those two integrations alone open roughly 40% of mid-market deals.
