LOCAL MARKET GUIDE

Spain: the essentials of doing business online

Spain is one of the EU's large e-commerce markets, with a mobile-first audience that pays by card, PayPal and increasingly Bizum. Doing business online there means Spanish-language legal pages, IVA at 21/10/4% and new invoicing rules such as Verifactu from 2027; Zunapro sets up shops, websites and marketplace connections around them.

The Canary Islands apply their own IGIC tax instead of IVA, and Ceuta and Melilla apply IPSI; shipments there are treated as exports outside the EU VAT area.

What Zunapro sets up for Spain

  • We build the structure for the aviso legal, privacy and cookie pages and a footer with your NIF and commercial-registry details; the legal wording comes from you or your lawyer.
  • Via Stripe we enable cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Klarna and Bizum (once Bizum approves the merchant); PayPal, SeQura and cash on delivery are integrated on request.
  • Amazon.es and Zalando connect to one panel through our existing integrations; connections to El Corte Inglés, PcComponentes, Carrefour and Miravia are built on request.
  • We connect your .es domain with SSL, build the site in Spanish and, where needed, add English or Catalan versions with correct hreflang tags.

Spain: frequently asked questions

Do I need an aviso legal on my Spanish website if I don't sell online?
Yes. The LSSI-CE applies to any website linked to an economic activity, including sites that only present or advertise a business. The page must show the name, NIF, address, commercial-registry details and an e-mail address. Zunapro builds the page and footer link; you or your lawyer supply the wording.
When does Verifactu become mandatory?
Under Royal Decree-law 15/2025 it starts on 1 January 2027 for companies paying corporate tax and on 1 July 2027 for the self-employed and other taxpayers. Businesses on the SII system and the Basque Country and Navarre, which run their own systems such as TicketBAI, are outside it. Choose a Verifactu-ready invoicing tool before then.
Which marketplaces should I start with in Spain?
Most sellers start with Amazon.es for reach. PcComponentes is strong in electronics, El Corte Inglés and Carrefour in general merchandise, Miravia and Zalando in fashion and beauty, and ManoMano in DIY; several of them select sellers. Zunapro connects Amazon and Zalando with existing integrations and builds the others on request.
