What is Cdiscount? — Quick answer

Cdiscount is the French marketplace founded in 1998 in Bordeaux by the Charle brothers (Christophe, Hervé and Nicolas), acquired by the Casino Group in 2000 and operated today by Cnova N.V.. With 23 million active customers, 13,000+ marketplace sellers and €4.5 billion in 3P GMV in 2024, Cdiscount is France's #1 and Amazon's direct challenger in France, with particular leadership in home appliances, audio-video and IT.

About Cdiscount: founding, ownership and market position

Founding and history (1998 – today)

Cdiscount was launched in 1998 in Bordeaux-Lac by the three Charle brothers, Hervé, Christophe and Nicolas, as an online destocker of DVDs, CDs and consumer electronics. In 2000, the Casino Group (Jean-Charles Naouri) acquired the majority of the capital and made Cdiscount its digital arm in France. Between 2010 and 2015, Cdiscount became the first 100% French e-tailer to exceed one billion euros in GMV and launched its 3P marketplace open to third-party sellers.

In 2014, Casino consolidated its international e-commerce assets (Cdiscount + Extra.com.br in Brazil) into Cnova N.V., listed on Amsterdam Euronext (AEX:CNOVA, since delisted). Today Cdiscount covers marketplace, 1P retail, Cdiscount Énergie, Cdiscount Voyage, Cdiscount Mobile and Cdiscount Pro (B2B). Its subsidiary Octopia, launched in 2020, commercializes Cdiscount's marketplace technology to other retailers (notably Carrefour and Auchan).

Cdiscount ownership (2025)

  • Cnova N.V. — Operational parent company (Casino subsidiary)
  • Casino Group — Historic majority shareholder (Jean-Charles Naouri)
  • Emmanuel Grenier — Cdiscount CEO since 2018, Chairman of Cnova
  • Charle brothers — Historic founders (exited capital after the Casino acquisition)
  • Note: the Casino Group financial difficulties 2022-2024 (safeguard proceedings, Daniel KÅ™etínský / EP Equity Investment entering the capital) impacted governance but Cdiscount retains its operational scope

Position in French e-commerce

Cdiscount holds roughly 10% of the French e-commerce market and ranks #2 behind Amazon.fr, ahead of Fnac-Darty, Veepee and ManoMano according to FEVAD. In home appliances, Cdiscount is the undisputed leader in France thanks to its CFD logistics and historic partnerships with major brands (Whirlpool, Bosch, Samsung). The premium Cdiscount à Volonté program (€29/year, unlimited free delivery) exceeds 2 million subscribers.

Cdiscount sales volume and size (2024–2025 figures)

Cdiscount remains one of the two heavyweights of French e-commerce despite pressure from Amazon and the Casino Group restructuring. 3P marketplace GMV and seller count are growing thanks to the appeal of Cdiscount Fulfillment (CFD) and diversification (Cdiscount Pro, Cdiscount International).

Year Total GMV Marketplace GMV Active Customers 3P Sellers
2020~€4.2B€2.3B20M9,500
2022~€7B€3.8B22M11,200
2024~€8B€4.5B23M+13,000+
2025 (forecast)~€8.5B€5B24M14,500

Cdiscount is also the inventor of French Days (2018, France's response to Black Friday) which now drive more than €1 billion of GMV concentrated over two weeks. Registering as a seller on Cdiscount Marketplace opens access to a captive French B2C + B2B base, with an average home appliance basket above €300.

Opening a Cdiscount seller account (2026 rules)

1. Legal and tax requirements

To sell on Cdiscount Marketplace, you need a registered French or European company, subject to VAT and in good standing with URSSAF. SAS, SARL, EURL, micro-enterprise and auto-entrepreneur statuses are accepted; above a certain revenue threshold, issuing Factur-X via Chorus Pro will become mandatory (French electronic invoicing reform phased in 2026-2027).

  • Kbis extract less than 3 months old
  • SIREN / SIRET number and intra-community VAT number
  • Up-to-date URSSAF vigilance certificate
  • SEPA bank account (RIB / IBAN) in the company's name
  • Legal representative ID (PSP KYC, Mangopay)
  • Factur-X issuer (Approved Dematerialization Platform — PDP — or Chorus Pro portal)
  • INPI / EUIPO registered trademark for regulated categories (beauty, toys, baby care, dietary supplements)
  • GDPR, CNIL, AGEC, Triman, repairability index and EPR sector compliance (WEEE, packaging, textile)

2. Application via Cdiscount Seller Center

Applications are filed at cdiscount.com/vendre. Onboarding takes 5 to 10 business days depending on category and quality of the file. Once approved, Cdiscount issues your Seller ID, Marketplace API login and API password — all required to wire Zunapro. The Cdiscount Pro seller subscription is €39.99/month excl. VAT (standard plan).

📥 Official Cdiscount Seller Application cdiscount.com/vendre — free application, 5–10 business days approval →

3. Catalog upload and content rules

Cdiscount enforces strict quality guidelines for product listings:

  • Title: 50–150 characters, structure "Brand + Model + Key Feature"
  • Images: white background, minimum 1000×1000 px, up to 8 images, no watermark or commercial text
  • Description: HTML allowed, minimum 200 characters, mandatory mention of repairability index and Triman logo depending on category
  • Category mapping: Cdiscount Category ID + mandatory attributes (EAN, brand, warranty)
  • EAN13 / GTIN: required for nearly all categories, non-negotiable in high-tech
  • Listing quality score: target > 80/100, otherwise the listing is deprioritized in search
âš¡

The Zunapro advantage: instead of entering listings one by one, import your entire store catalog (Shopify, WooCommerce, PrestaShop, Magento, OpenCart) then publish it to Cdiscount with a single click in the correct Marketplace API format. The quality score stays automatically above 80. Learn more →

Cdiscount commission rates (2026)

2026 Cdiscount commissions range from 4% to 18% depending on category and come on top of the Pro seller subscription of €39.99/month excl. VAT. Add to that French VAT (20% standard, 10% or 5.5% reduced depending on product) and, where applicable, Cdiscount Fulfillment fees. Without a net simulation, the risk of selling at a loss is real — it's the #1 mistake of new marketplace sellers. Here are the three Cdiscount commission bands:

Low band
4% – 8%
Home appliances (FR leader), IT, audio-video, telephony, automotive, high-volume high-tech
Mid band
8% – 13%
Home, garden, DIY, sports & outdoor, pet, toys, dry grocery
High band
12% – 18%
Fashion & apparel, footwear, beauty & fragrance, jewelry, baby care, luggage
📋
Official commission grid: Cdiscount updates its rates on the Seller Center and developer documentation. Check dev.cdiscount.com and your Cdiscount Seller Center for the up-to-date grid. The Zunapro panel automatically retrieves these grids and applies them to the pricing module.

Net result calculation: Retail price incl. VAT − Cdiscount commission − VAT remitted − Shipping fees − CFD fees (if applicable) − Cost of goods = net margin. The Zunapro pricing module runs this calculation per SKU and per category in real time; it blocks any sale below your minimum margin threshold and triggers the automated repricer above it.

💡 Intelligent commission and margin calculation

In the Zunapro panel, net margin is calculated per product and per Cdiscount category. SKUs with negative margin trigger an alert and the repricer kicks in automatically.

Cdiscount Marketplace API integration — technical details

The Cdiscount Marketplace API is the interface that lets sellers sync products, stock, prices, orders, shipments and refunds with the Cdiscount platform. It primarily exposes modern REST endpoints as well as legacy SOAP operations for backward compatibility. Base URL: https://api.cdiscount.com/. Documentation: https://dev.cdiscount.com.

API authentication

The Cdiscount API uses a seller login + password scheme exchanged for a session token via the GetTokenResponse operation (SOAP) or an /auth/token endpoint on REST. The token is then injected into the Authorization: Bearer header on every call. Validity is limited (typically 30 minutes) — Zunapro handles automatic renewal and token caching.

Main endpoint families

  • Products API — Listing creation/update, Cdiscount category mapping, quality score
  • Offers API — Price, stock, condition (new/refurbished), Cdiscount Express badge (bulk up to 10,000 offers)
  • Orders API — Order retrieval, accept/reject, status, packing slip generation
  • Shipment API — Colissimo / Chronopost / Mondial Relay / Colis Privé / UPS labels, tracking numbers
  • Refunds & Claims API — Refund requests, disputes, customer service
  • Discussions API — Built-in buyer messaging (mandatory response within 48h)
  • Reports API — Financial reporting, monthly bank reconciliation

Rate limit and error handling

Cdiscount API throughput runs around 5 to 10 requests/second per seller account depending on endpoint. When exceeded, the API returns 429 Too Many Requests. Common codes: 400 (invalid payload, missing EAN), 401 (token expired), 404 (category or offer not found), 500 (platform incident — retry). The Zunapro connector applies exponential retry with dead-letter queue and exposes a readable error log in the panel.

âš¡

No need to write Cdiscount API code: Zunapro's ready-to-use Cdiscount connector handles authentication, rate limiting, retries, error handling and webhook dispatch for you. Wire up the Cdiscount Marketplace API →

Cdiscount XML integration — bulk catalog import

Cdiscount XML integration consists of automatically reading an XML or CSV feed from your supplier (or back-office) and pushing it to the Cdiscount Marketplace API. It is the must-have alternative to manual entry for catalogs with thousands of SKUs.

Cdiscount-compatible XML schema

Required fields to publish a Cdiscount offer:

  • ProductReference / SellerProductId — internal seller identifier
  • EAN13, Brand, Title, ShortLabel, LongLabel
  • CategoryCode (Cdiscount), ModelProperties (color, size, warranty)
  • Stock, Price incl. VAT, EcoPart (EPR eco-contribution)
  • ShippingInformationList — Colissimo, Chronopost, Mondial Relay
  • Pictures (1–8 HTTPS URLs), LongDescription (HTML)

From supplier feed to Cdiscount via Zunapro

Most French and European wholesalers (especially in home appliances, high-tech and home) expose their catalog in XML or CSV. Zunapro's XML module:

  1. Reads the supplier feed URL (configurable cron, as often as every 15 minutes)
  2. Learns category mapping (initial manual mapping, then auto suggestions)
  3. Normalizes brand, color, size, warranty and Cdiscount attributes
  4. Adds margin, eco-contribution and shipping costs to the purchase price
  5. Tracks stock and automatically deactivates SKUs out of stock at the supplier
  6. Publishes to the Cdiscount Marketplace API with quality score control

3 marketplaces × unlimited XML × one single panel

The Zunapro Plus plan includes 3 XML integrations. Connect your suppliers once, then distribute in parallel on Cdiscount, Amazon.fr and Fnac.

Cdiscount Fulfillment (CFD) — the logistics solution

Cdiscount Fulfillment (CFD) is the service through which you deposit your inventory in Cdiscount's warehouses — Cestas in Gironde, Andrézieux in Loire and Réau in Seine-et-Marne — and delegate storage, picking, shipping and customer service to Cdiscount. It is the French equivalent of Amazon FBA, optimized for Cdiscount Marketplace sellers and compatible with the Cdiscount Express next-day network.

CFD benefits

  • Cdiscount Express badge (guaranteed next-day delivery) — conversion rate +20 to +30%
  • Higher Buy Box probability — CFD offers rank higher in the search engine
  • Customer service handled by Cdiscount — returns, exchanges, claims
  • Cdiscount à Volonté eligibility — access to €29/year premium subscribers
  • Zero in-house logistics — no picking/packing to manage

CFD costs (2025 order of magnitude)

  • Storage: ~€20–40 / m³ / month depending on season (Q4 surcharge)
  • Order preparation: €1.50–4.00 / unit depending on weight and volume
  • Return: €2.50–5.00 / processed return
  • Commission: standard Cdiscount commission + CFD fees (no extra commission)

The CFD break-even point typically sits around 500+ orders/month for medium-weight/volume products. Below that, shipping from your own warehouse with Colissimo or Mondial Relay remains more cost-effective.

Cdiscount seller rating and performance metrics

Cdiscount assigns each seller a 5-star rating as well as a set of metrics (cancellation rate, shipping time, late rate, dispute rate) that directly drive search visibility and Buy Box eligibility. Key penalty factors:

  • Seller cancellation rate — > 1% triggers a warning, > 3% threatens suspension
  • Shipping delays — any order not handed to the carrier within the promised time
  • Dispute / customer service rate — discussions unresolved within 48h, forced refunds
  • Average customer rating — aim for ≥ 4.5/5; below 4 the listing loses its ranking
  • Messaging response time — within 24 business hours, ideally < 4h

Zunapro's automatic stock synchronization reduces the risk of out-of-stock cancellations by up to 90%: as soon as a sale happens on your site, on Amazon, on Fnac or in a physical store, Cdiscount stock is immediately aligned.

Cdiscount advertising, promotions and intelligent pricing

Cdiscount advertising platforms

  • Cdiscount Ads (Retail Media) — Sponsored Products on CPC on the results page and product page
  • Automated Ads — Algorithmic bidding managed by Cdiscount, ideal for ramp-up
  • Brand Store — Brand showcase with enriched content (reserved for INPI/EUIPO trademark holders)
  • French Days & Black Friday promotions — high-traffic in-house Cdiscount events, opt-in via Seller Center

Intelligent pricing (repricer)

The Cdiscount Buy Box is won through the combination of price + seller rating + shipping time + CFD/Express badge. On highly competitive SKUs (high-tech in particular), prices change every minute. Zunapro's repricer module adjusts your prices in near real time against Cdiscount competitors while respecting the minimum margin and weighted-average-cost floor you set.

Cdiscount electronic invoicing: Factur-X & Chorus Pro

France mandates electronic invoicing on a 2026-2027 rollout schedule (phased by company size). In B2B with public administrations, Chorus Pro is already mandatory. The Factur-X format (PDF/A-3 + XML CII) is the Franco-German standard adopted. Issuing invoices manually is no longer viable above a few dozen orders per day.

The Zunapro invoicing module:

  • Automatic Factur-X invoice issuance as soon as a Cdiscount order is received
  • Routing to an approved Approved Dematerialization Platform (PDP) or to Chorus Pro
  • Automatic credit note in case of return or partial refund
  • Monthly/quarterly VAT reporting (CA3) and DEB / DES
  • Email PDF to customer mentioning 14-day right of withdrawal and 2-year legal warranty

📄 Factur-X & Chorus Pro automation

In the Zunapro panel, every Cdiscount order triggers compliant Factur-X issuance and deposit on the PDP or Chorus Pro. Included in all Marketplace plans.

Factur-X plan

Carrier integration — Cdiscount Express + partners

Cdiscount orders can be shipped via Cdiscount Express (next-day) for CFD/eligible sellers, as well as via partner carriers: Colissimo (La Poste), Chronopost, Mondial Relay (pickup points), Colis Privé, UPS and Cdiscount Logistique solutions for oversized goods (large appliances, furniture).

Zunapro's multi-carrier module automatically selects the best carrier based on weight, volume, destination (Metropolitan France, Corsica, French Overseas Territories, EU) and customer preference. Label generation, tracking push to the Cdiscount API and customer notification are fully automated.

Cdiscount returns and customer service management

The French 14-day right of withdrawal and the 2-year legal warranty of conformity fully apply on Cdiscount Marketplace. Observed return rates: 20–30% in fashion/footwear, 5–10% in high-tech/home appliances, 8–12% in home-garden. Poor handling drops the seller rating and blocks the Buy Box.

Standard Cdiscount return process:

  1. Customer opens a request from their Cdiscount account (within 14 days of delivery)
  2. Cdiscount generates a return label (Mondial Relay or Colissimo depending on the offer)
  3. The product is returned either to the CFD warehouse or to the seller (FBM)
  4. The seller has 72 business hours to validate or contest the refund
  5. Cdiscount refunds the customer on the original payment method or to their account credit

Zunapro's returns module tracks each step, triggers the automatic Factur-X credit note and alerts the seller when return rates drift.

Cdiscount integration with Zunapro — 4-step setup (10 minutes)

Frequently asked questions about Cdiscount integration (FAQ)

How long does Cdiscount integration take?

With Zunapro, Cdiscount integration is completed in 10 minutes on average. After entering the Seller ID, Marketplace API login and password then mapping categories, the first synchronization starts automatically.

Is the Cdiscount Marketplace API paid?

No. Access to the Cdiscount Marketplace API is free for approved Pro sellers. You pay the seller subscription (€39.99/month excl. VAT), per-category commissions and, optionally, Cdiscount Fulfillment fees. Authorized throughput runs around 5 to 10 requests/second per account.

Do you need a company to sell on Cdiscount?

Yes. You need a registered company in France or the EU — SAS, SARL, EURL, micro-enterprise or auto-entrepreneur accepted. Zunapro offers a company formation service that delivers a Kbis in a few days and lets you apply on Cdiscount Marketplace immediately.

What is Cdiscount XML integration?

It is a system that automatically reads the XML or CSV feed from your supplier or e-commerce site and pushes it to the Cdiscount catalog via the Marketplace API. Zunapro thus loads thousands of SKUs in minutes and continuously syncs prices and stock.

What is Cdiscount Fulfillment (CFD)?

Cdiscount Fulfillment is Cdiscount's logistics service: you deposit your products in the warehouses in Cestas, Andrézieux or Réau, and Cdiscount handles storage, picking, shipping and customer service. Benefits: Cdiscount Express next-day badge, better Buy Box rate and access to Cdiscount à Volonté subscribers.

What are Cdiscount commission rates in 2026?

2026 Cdiscount commissions range from 4% to 18% depending on category: 4–8% in home appliances/IT/audio-video/automotive, 8–13% in home/garden/DIY/sports, 12–18% in fashion/beauty/jewelry/baby care. VAT and Pro subscription €39.99/month excl. VAT on top. Up-to-date grid at dev.cdiscount.com and the Seller Center.

How do you win the Cdiscount Buy Box?

Seller rating ≥ 4/5, competitive price, use of Cdiscount Fulfillment or Cdiscount Express next-day badge, cancellation rate < 1% and on-time shipping. Zunapro's repricer module adjusts your prices in real time against competitors while preserving your defined minimum margin.

How does Cdiscount electronic invoicing work?

Zunapro automatically issues the Factur-X invoice (PDF/A-3 + XML CII) as soon as a Cdiscount order is received, then transmits it via an Approved Dematerialization Platform (PDP) or Chorus Pro for public B2B. Automatic credit note on returns. No manual intervention required.

How fast is stock synchronized on Cdiscount?

With Zunapro, Cdiscount stock is updated in 3 to 5 seconds. As soon as a sale happens on your site or another marketplace (Amazon, Fnac, ManoMano, physical store), Cdiscount stock is realigned; the risk of overselling and cancellation is eliminated.

How many SKUs can I sell on Cdiscount?

The number of SKUs per Cdiscount Marketplace seller is not capped. The Zunapro Pro plan includes unlimited products, connected marketplaces and XML feeds.

Do you need to code to integrate Cdiscount?

No. The Zunapro panel is no-code: you enter your Cdiscount API credentials, map categories, and sync is live. Zero development, zero maintenance of REST/SOAP calls.

What happens if I close my Cdiscount store?

You can deactivate or close your Cdiscount store at any time, provided you complete pending orders and any customer service cases. From the Zunapro panel, the Cdiscount connection is cut in one click; your catalog data is preserved and reusable on other marketplaces.

Cdiscount or Amazon.fr: which to choose?

Cdiscount is France's #1 in home appliances, audio-video and IT, with a highly captive French B2C+B2B customer base (23M+ active customers, Cdiscount à Volonté). Amazon.fr dominates in overall volume and FBA logistics. The right strategy is to sell on both — Zunapro operates Cdiscount, Amazon.fr and Fnac from the same panel.
