How We Work
Fixed price in GBP, fixed schedule. Apple approval (1-3 days) and Google Play (hours) included. Free revision if rejected.
We talk through your business (60-90 min, in person in Shoreditch or via Google Meet). Target users, main 3 screens, native vs cross-platform, which integrations (Stripe UK, Open Banking, maps, push, biometrics) get clarified. Within 3 business days we deliver a fixed-price GBP quote, module by module.
Clickable prototype in Figma. Apple Human Interface + Material Design 3.0 compliant. Dark mode, dynamic type, WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility. You walk through each screen and approve. Animations in Lottie/Rive.
If native, two teams in parallel (Swift + Kotlin). If cross-platform, React Native / Flutter on a single codebase. 40% faster code with Cursor + AI tooling. Every week a build hits TestFlight + Firebase App Distribution — you try it on your phone.
NestJS backend, PostgreSQL DB, AWS London (eu-west-2) deployment. Payments (Stripe UK / GoCardless / Klarna / Worldpay), push (OneSignal/Firebase), analytics (Firebase/Mixpanel), crash (Sentry). UK-GDPR/ICO review. We test with your team in UAT.
Apple Developer account (£79/year UK) and Google Play Console ($25 one-time) set up in your name with HMRC sort-code/IBAN for payouts. App icon, screenshots, ASO copy, ICO-compliant privacy policy — all prepared. iOS approval 1-3 days, Android 2-8 hours.
12 months of free bug-fix warranty. iOS/Android SDK upgrades (iOS 18, Android 15) included. 24/7 crash monitoring. New feature requests added in monthly sprints. Maintenance optional (£95/hour ad-hoc, or monthly retainer £580 to £4,200).

Tailored Quote
We do not give cookie-cutter package pricing. We listen to your needs, clarify the screens, and within 3 business days we send a fixed-price (GBP, ex-VAT) + fixed-schedule quote. The call is free, no commitment, and we won't steal your idea (mutual NDA signed).
Regardless of scope, the following are delivered as standard — no extra cost.
Bring these — we deliver the right quote in 60 minutes.
Native (Swift + Kotlin): Highest performance + access to Apple/Google's newest features (e.g. Live Activity, App Clips, Material You). Preferred for: games, AR, video editors, 1M+ user projects, FCA-regulated fintech. Cross-platform (React Native / Flutter): 50% cheaper + single codebase + 2x faster development. Preferred for: MVPs, e-commerce, B2B trade apps, content apps. We recommend based on your specific scenario in the discovery call — we won't push native if there's no need.
Google Play: 2-8 hours after submission (usually live the same day). Apple App Store: 1-3 business days after submission (Apple App Review). Account setup included: Apple Developer Program (£79/year UK) and Google Play Console ($25 one-time). HMRC sort-code/IBAN for App Store payouts configured, UK tax forms handled. Account opens in your name, 100% ownership yours. Free revision if rejected.
Low. Out of our last 24 apps, 23 passed on first submission. We know Apple's 4.0 (Design), 5.1 (Privacy — UK-GDPR/ICO focus), 2.5 (Performance) guidelines by heart, plus the App Tracking Transparency framework. If rejected: free revision for code issues (our fault) or additional sprint quote for content policy violations. Guaranteed.
Code is 100% yours. GitHub repository transferred free of charge. You can continue with any other mobile app developer, hire in-house. App Store and Google Play accounts also open in your name with your HMRC details — 100% ownership yours. Vendor lock-in is not our business model.
Every project gets a senior mobile app developer assigned (min. 5 years iOS/Android experience). Our 12-year London team includes developers who have worked at fintechs (Monzo/Revolut-tier), Apple-recognised studios, and FTSE 250 firms. Juniors work under code review — seniors are accountable for output. We introduce the developer assigned to your project in the discovery call.
Not ideal. Apple Human Interface Guidelines and Material Design are different design languages — Apple users expect SF Pro font + navigation transitions, Android users expect Roboto + bottom sheets + ripple effects. If we go native, each platform follows its own standard (user satisfaction 30%+ higher). Cross-platform (React Native/Flutter) yields a single design across both — a pragmatic choice.
Part of the standard package: OneSignal/Firebase push, Stripe UK / GoCardless / Klarna / Worldpay + Apple Pay + Google Pay + Revolut Business, Firebase Analytics + Mixpanel (UK-GDPR configured), Sentry crash, biometric login (Face ID/Touch ID/Android Biometric). Additional integrations (Zendesk, Intercom, Branch.io deep linking, MapKit/Google Maps UK, ARKit/ARCore, Open Banking AISP) become part of scope — no extra charge.
Three options: (1) Shared backend — web + mobile fed from a single API, a basket added on web shows up on mobile. The most common approach. (2) Hybrid with web views — on tight budgets some parts of mobile render web pages (Apple discourages this, requires care). (3) Brand-new mobile — mobile-native UX, syncs with web via API. We recommend based on your scenario in discovery.
Standard. Every UK app ships with an ICO-compliant privacy policy, App Tracking Transparency framework, cookie/consent flow, data subject access request (DSAR) endpoint, and ROPA-ready documentation. For FCA-regulated fintech apps (AISP/PISP, e-money, lending) we partner with compliance counsel to align with PSD2 SCA, FCA SUP 16, and the Consumer Duty. NHS DSPT supported for healthcare apps.
The United Kingdom carries Europe's highest mobile-payment penetration (above 70% among 18-34 year olds), the most mature Open Banking ecosystem and the strictest enforcement of data-protection rules. These three axes shape every architectural decision a mobile app makes when targeting the UK: Apple Pay and Google Pay are effectively mandatory, Open Banking pay-by-bank can unlock margin in price-sensitive categories, and ICO compliance must be embedded into product flows from the first sprint.
Apple Pay represents roughly 35% of UK contactless transactions according to Visa UK data. Integrating Apple Pay in-app requires an Apple Developer Program membership ($99/year) and activated PassKit Apple Pay capability. On the processing side, Stripe UK, Adyen, Checkout.com (London-headquartered), Worldpay/FIS and GoCardless all support Apple Pay natively. Card credentials never leave the device; the merchant server only ever sees the device-bound DPAN.
Google Pay sits on roughly 48% of UK Android devices, with 12+ million active wallets. The integration splits between Google Pay Tap and Pay (HCE/NFC) and Google Pay for Online Merchants (in-app and web). Stripe UK, Braintree (PayPal), Adyen and Worldpay all expose first-party SDKs, with 3DS2 challenges automated for SCA compliance.
Adding pay-by-bank to a UK mobile app is no longer the preserve of fintechs. TrueLayer (London), Plaid (with a strong UK office) and Tink (Visa-owned) all ship native iOS and Android SDKs. The typical flow:
Variable Recurring Payments (VRP) are increasingly used for subscription billing as a Direct Debit alternative with no card-on-file exposure.
UK GDPR, PECR and Apple's ATT (App Tracking Transparency) jointly impose a three-gate consent architecture. The ICO's Children's Code (Age Appropriate Design Code) layers further obligations for under-18 users — default high privacy, no profiling, no nudging. Practical implementation:
App Store Connect treats the UK as a discrete storefront with its own pricing, screenshots and metadata; the en-GB locale should be authored separately from en-US. Google Play does not require a separate UK listing but a localised one converts measurably better. Apple App Review for UK builds typically returns within 24-48 hours; Google Play takes 1-3 days.
ASO rules with a British accent:
Push notifications classified as "marketing communications" fall under PECR and require explicit opt-in. iOS handles APNS opt-in natively; Android 13+ requires the POST_NOTIFICATIONS runtime permission. Marketing push lists must carry a consent record (timestamp + version) per user — the ICO routinely asks for this audit trail during investigations.
| Service | UK Market Penetration | Fee |
|---|---|---|
| Apple Pay (Stripe UK) | ~35% of contactless | 1.5% + 20p domestic |
| Google Pay (Stripe UK) | ~48% of Android active | 1.5% + 20p domestic |
| TrueLayer Open Banking | 10M+ users/year | £0.05-0.30 / txn |
| Klarna in-app | 16M active UK | 2-5% |
| PayPal in-app | ~30M UK accounts | 2.9% + 30p |
Fintech and banking apps in the UK default to Face ID on iOS and BiometricPrompt on Android. PSD2 Strong Customer Authentication requires re-authentication every 90 days, but storing tokens in the iOS Keychain or Android Keystore keeps the UX seamless between cycles. The FCA accepts behavioural biometrics — keystroke dynamics, swipe patterns — as a supplementary factor; providers like BehavioSec and TypingDNA integrate via mobile SDKs.
UK fintech and serious-money apps (Monzo, Starling, Revolut) still ship native Swift/Kotlin. React Native and Flutter dominate non-finance B2C — food delivery, fashion, marketplaces. Stripe's React Native SDK and expo-stripe bridge Apple Pay and Google Pay at production grade; on Flutter, the pay package is officially maintained by Google. Choice is increasingly a hiring question rather than a technical one.
Apple charges 30% on In-App Purchase, or 15% for developers under the Small Business Program (under £1M/year). Digital content — subscriptions, virtual goods — must flow through IAP, while physical goods and services can use Stripe or Adyen. UK Competition and Markets Authority and EU Digital Markets Act pressure has begun loosening the "alternative payment redirection" ban for certain categories during 2024-2025.
Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel and Amplitude are widely used in the UK but transfer data to the US. The ICO's interpretation is unambiguous: Standard Contractual Clauses plus the UK International Data Transfer Addendum must be in place before personal data leaves the UK. Self-hosted PostHog or an EU-region Matomo Cloud are alternatives for compliance-sensitive teams. Without explicit consent you cannot collect IP, device ID or advertising ID — Firebase Consent Mode v2 is mandatory.
UK app install costs typically run: Apple Search Ads £2.50-£5.00 CPI, Google App Campaigns £1.20-£3.00, Meta App Install Ads £1.80-£4.50, TikTok App Install £1.20-£3.50. Retention benchmarks: D1 above 35%, D7 above 18%, D30 above 8%. ARPDAU sits at £0.30-£0.80 for e-commerce apps and £0.05-£0.25 for casual games — useful anchors for LTV/CAC modelling.
Going live in the UK mobile market is not about translation and GBP price tags — it is about engineering payment, Open Banking and consent infrastructure to British regulatory standards. Apps that ship with Apple Pay, Google Pay, optional TrueLayer pay-by-bank, an ICO-grade consent flow and PECR-aware push messaging pass App Review faster, retain users longer and avoid the regulatory friction that derails so many non-UK challengers.
